When you mention the word Cumbria a few things may spring to mind; mountains, sheep, lakes, floods or even shootings! However in a town called Workington, Rachel’s Wonders, a small jewellery business has begun to get people talking about something other than country side and doom and gloom.
Rachel designs and makes contemporary jewellery which is exhibited nationally, but in 2011 it was her little Kitsch ‘wonders’ that have really taken the online and alternative world by storm. You may like to know that the epi-centre for all this creative activity is her Christmas present from her father, her beloved SHED.
Rachel’s Wonders was set up as a side line to my main body of work in 2010. After setting up a Facebook page (Rachel’s Wonders Jewellery) to promote the business, she not only had an increase in sales but also saw interest sore with models, photographers and stylists wanting to use her work in shoots.
Rachel has recently shot with an amazing selection of Photographers, Models and Companies including; Gareth Hickey and Samantha Gardner, PICFX, Brandon Zachary in Florida with the gorgeous Kimber Lee, Miss Malice and Joseph O'Brien, Click Click Bang, with Peggy Soo and Juliette October are to name but a few.
Rachel’s Wonders Jewellery is an Aladdin’s Cave of many styles and colours. The pieces are individually hand cast, coloured resin, which enables the customer to customise their wears in their chosen colour!
Rachel has traded at a variety of events over the past few years including; Tattoo Jam, Liverpool Tattoo Convention, London Edge, The Headline Honeys Burlesque Nights in Middlesbrough and Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair.
If you have an event that you would like Rachel and the team to be a part of please email; firstname.lastname@example.org
Look out for more events coming in 2013/14
